It’s The Little Things

On the dawn of another Browns training camp I find myself seeing things differently than in years past. Yeah, the story lines remain, but there are always story lines. The narrative though… now that has undergone a transformation and I believe it to be the driving factor in my changed perspective.

Let’s take the low hanging fruit first. We go into this camp without a quarterback competition. Actually, this will now be back-to-back camps without an open QB competition. Remember, we come from a history littered with some doozies… Weeden/McCoy/Wallace… Manziel/Hoyer… Kizer/Kessler/Osweiler. Should I stop? Okay then.

How about talent? Yeah, we have always been good at fooling ourselves into thinking that the Steve Heidens and Mohamed Massaquois had talent. Elevating the lesser players, mostly because we had no choice. That’s all we had. We now go into this year’s camp with arguably the most talented Browns roster ever. Surely the most talented since ’99.

One more… unity. I cannot recall a time in our tattered past where I have seen such a unified organization. From top to bottom. Sideways and slantways. There seems to be this calm permeating anytime someone from within the organization speaks to the direction of the team. A singular vision with everyone in lock-step.

So, you see… this isn’t the same old Browns. This is nothing remotely close to the laughable product we were force fed for so long. There are tangible aspects that can point you to this truth. Just try and see things in a new light.

When looking for your reasons to believe, remember… it’s the little things.
