NBA Rundown: Friday 02/28
By Ethan Tabor
What to expect
We will provide a basic rundown of the slate each day rather it’s in article, podcast or video form. The rundown will include games and spreads that day with correlated matchups, We will have a write up for specific players that we see advantages or disadvantages to having in your lineup, and we will then finish the rundown by giving you the top options at each position. The goal here is to not just give the best plays to win money but to teach you how to construct winning lineups on your own to make DFS a profitable game rather than a gamble. This article will be posted each day, at least an hour and a half before lineup lock. If the days slate starts at 7pm EST then you can expect the rundown posted no later than 5:30pm. Follow us on twitter to keep updated on the inevitable injury updates and how that will effect your lineups after this article is posted. https://twitter.com/Money_LineDFS
Today’s Slate
If you looked at the article yesterday you’d see that we preached being different on a slate that only has 4 games. If you played then you watched Julius Randle at low ownership lead the scoring for all power forwards. Shocking on a night with a mortal lock of Anthony Davis without Lebron... but look at that. Being different than 90% of the field paid off as Randle outscored Davis while costing $3,500 less than his counter part. We didn’t mention Randle as a play but that’s just the point, you need to think different than your competitors on certain spots and specially on 4 game slates!
I want to note i am playing Draftkings only tonight with this slate. As for today, we have the complete opposite of yesterday with a massive 10 game slate. Your focus on this one has nothing to do with differentiating from others. A chalky player on a 4 game slate like Davis (70% last night) would come in today as the must play that he was, at only a fraction of the percentage because of the options available with a 10 game slate. Let’s start with our core players today.
Top Plays
Kevin Porter Jr- The cavaliers are in rebuild mode through and through. Andre Drummond will not play again today and this shirt handed Cavs team plays on the road against New Orleans who is among the fastest paced teams in the league. I like Porter because the Cavs seem adamant on giving their shining rookie as much opportunity as they can to close out this season. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him draw a start in the very near future. Porter comes in at $4,800 on DK and the reason I see him paying off is that he does a lot more than just get buckets. He is always racking up statistics with rebounds, assists and steals which can certainly pay off if he’s contributing in all categories. This is definitely a plus matchup so I see value here!
Sacramento starting PG- I’m not even sure that I have a preference here. If D’Aaron Fox is ruled out then Joseph is a must play at $3,500 but you better believe everyone else is on that. Fox at $7,700 is much more money but he will be a second thought to people if he plays and I love that. In my article 2 days ago, I mentioned how I love attacking Memphis with point guards and Russell Westbrook literally shit on Ja Morant and the Grizzlies that very night. His DRPM is terrible and I expect whatever guard plays to torch Morant like they have all year.
Devin Booker- $7,800 is criminal for Booker. He’s not been very good but he’s been pretty consistent in scoring 40+ fantasy points and that’s actually all he needs to pay off at this price. With Kelly Oubre now on the shelf you can expect Bookers usage to see a major increase here soon. Detroit may as well be a G-league team and there’s no reason to think Book won’t destroy this backcourt.
Position Plays
PG
Kings starting PG
Spencer Dinwiddie
Lonzo Ball
SG
Devin Booker
Dennis Schroder
Jrue Holiday
SF
My god this position is awful on DK. I don’t think it’s possible to play anyone other than Kevin Porter jr here. If not then differentiate and pay up for Kawhi or maybe Brandon Ingram.
PF
Giannas Antetokounmpo
Larry Nance jr
Aaron Gordon or Christian Wood (I’m torn)
C
DeAndre Ayton
Nikola Jokic
Naz Reid
Notes
Since DK allows multiple positions I’d much rather play any of the power forwards I listed in the center spot over everyone with the exception of Ayton. Since they are eligible with multiple positions plug in Nance or Wood if you’re not high on Ayton.
