NBA Rundown: Thursday 02/27

By Ethan Tabor

What to expect

We will provide a basic rundown of the slate each day rather it’s in article, podcast or video form. The rundown will include games and spreads that day with correlated matchups, We will have a write up for specific players that we see advantages or disadvantages to having in your lineup, and we will then finish the rundown by giving you the top options at each position. The goal here is to not just give the best plays to win money but to teach you how to construct winning lineups on your own to make DFS a profitable game rather than a gamble. This article will be posted each day, at least an hour and a half before lineup lock. If the days slate starts at 7pm EST then you can expect the rundown posted no later than 5:30pm. Follow us on twitter to keep updated on the inevitable injury updates and how that will effect your lineups after this article is posted. https://twitter.com/Money_LineDFS

Today’s Slate

The article will be a little different today as we have just a 4 game slate. There’s still plenty of options so I actually really like this slate all together and we will personally have a lot of action going tonight. Let’s dive in.

Top Plays

Anthony Davis and Rajon Rondo- I will say this ALL LAKERS ARE GREAT PLAYS. Your lineup has to start with these two players to stand a chance. AD is already a super star and would be a good spend up in this matchup anyways, but take out lebron and his usage increases 5%. Let’s say he’s 85% owned, you already eliminated 15% of your competition trying to be cute. So please don’t fade this massive chalk. We will differentiate in other areas. Same goes for Rondo who will be the primary ball handler with no Lebron. I expect double digit assists tonight and it will be hard for him not to hit his value.

Tobias Harris and Al Horford- same goes as stated about the Lakers for the 76ers. Josh Richardson, Oquinn(if he starts) Thybulle, are all great options. Tobias Harris on the other hand is now the leading usage  player on this team since Embiid is ruled out and he’s another guy that you can’t ignore just like Davis and Rondo. Both teams are in a back to back and if I were to do a game stack then it would definitely be this one. Yes, I even like some Knicks. As for big Al Horford it’s a similar case. Without Embiid and Simmons his FPPM goes up .16 which is very large. He’s also only $4,800 on Fanduel making it near impossible to fade. Again these guys will be owned by everyone but we can get different elsewhere.

Notes

Let’s get weird- these are some of the options I like to be different. If Oquinn starts at center then it’s likely the chalk goes with him. I’d imagine he’s near 50% if that’s the case. If that’s the case then I’m going to play someone expensive there just to be different and hope for a dud. I like Myles Turner and Hassan Whiteside as lower owned center options tonight. Don’t be afraid to play guys like CJ McCollum who’s been on fire lately and won’t be owned on this slate to be different. He drops 50 like he has been you just nailed your differentiation. Same with guys like Sabonis, and Chris Paul who fall under this as well

Remember on smaller slates like this you want to be different at the same time as not missing some of the obvious chalk. If you decide to fade Anthony Davis and he scores 70 you are 70 points behind every single one of your competitors. Be smart and these small slates can be very profitable! Good luck!
