NBA Rundown: Tuesday 03/10
By Ethan Tabor
What to expect
We will provide a basic rundown of the slate each day rather it’s in article, podcast or video form. The rundown will include games and spreads that day with correlated matchups, We will have a write up for specific players that we see advantages or disadvantages to having in your lineup, and we will then finish the rundown by giving you the top options at each position. The goal here is to not just give the best plays to win money but to teach you how to construct winning lineups on your own to make DFS a profitable game rather than a gamble. This article will be posted each day, at least an hour and a half before lineup lock. If the days slate starts at 7pm EST then you can expect the rundown posted no later than 5:30pm. Follow us on twitter to keep updated on the inevitable injury updates and how that will effect your lineups after this article is posted. https://twitter.com/Money_LineDFS
Recap
What in the actual fuck happened yesterday. I pray for all of you that you didn’t play and I’ll leave it at that. No bad juju in today’s discussion.
Today’s Slate
9 game slate today and honestly from short glance, I’m in love with a lot of expensive plays and their matchups today. This means we are going to need some value guys to open up and fit in our lineups. Stars and scrubs kinda feel. Let’s go!
Top Plays
Russell Westbrook- Russ and the Rockets take on the Timberwolves tonight. The Rockets have the highest implied total on the slate and it’s not even close. Vegas has the over/under set at 129 for the Rockets which is a huge 10 points higher than any of the other 17 teams in action tonight. This game is an obvious spot for attention tonight and Russ is my first look over Harden (although I will add, people rarely play both of these guys on the same team and tonight might be the night to get weird and do so). Russ will be covered all night by the teams worst defender in DeAngelo Russell and there’s no doubt Westbrook will expose him. This could be a popular play but his ownership gets funneled slightly just because most people tend to love Harden over him when they are stuck choosing. I like them both but Westbrook definitely gets the edge for me because of price and personal matchup.
Kristaps Porzingis- Zingi shot a whopping 3-17 2 nights ago and ended with only 28FP at his new price tag, which now exceeds $9k. Big let down, but he did play against a brutal front court in Myles Turner and Sabonis. Tonight’s matchup with the Spurs is a much different story and to make this short and sweet, Trey Lyles can not guard this 7 footer on his best day. The encouraging thing about Kristaps is that his rebounding % dominates anyone on the Spurs tonight, and he’s taken 17+ field goal attempts in 5 straight games and 3 of those games he took 21-28 FG attempts. He also blocks shots at an elite level. Also, only one of those games was Luka not in the lineup. I think Porzingis is a great tournament play who’s gonna come in owned by next to know one at his price, certainly after his last game and he has 60+ FP upside tonight!
Eric Gordon/ Jeff Green- He comes in at $3,700 on DK tonight, in again the highest scoring game of the night. He’s questionable as I write this but will become a must play in this matchup and this price if he’s able to go. If not, I’m definitely going to have a Rocket role player to go with Westbrook. If Gordon is not good to go then I’m moving to Jeff Green and it’s not even a debate (it’s nice when you know where you’re going in worst case scenarios). There’s just too much to go around and these guys are just too cheap to not take a flyer on one. Go with Gordon if he’s active but if not pay that $300 more for Jeff Green who continues to be a great fantasy player no matter where he’s at.
