Just Win Baby

It looked like a hurricane rolled up on First Energy Stadium at one point. Like… literally. We saw 60 plus mph winds and driving rain that danced in the sky like your drunken girlfriend just before last call. It was a meteorological sight to behold. The crazy weather lead us to the first NFL weather delay that I have seen in… well… come to think of it, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one. At any rate, we all knew days before that this game was going to be a tough one with the weather conditions and mother nature didn’t disappoint!

Like I said, we knew the weather well in advance. This gave us a pretty good idea of what the offensive game plan was going to be… a healthy dose of the running game. Coming off the bye week healthy, an injection of Teller and Chubb back into the offense is just what this squad needed. Although jammed up early, our rushing attack was able to hit its stride in the second half rumbling behind the big men making pancakes. Nick Chubb Looked like he didn’t miss a beat and Kareem Hunt ran like he was the feature back. We were able to hold true to our identity and ice away a game on the ground… again! This Browns backfield is special. There is no doubt about that!

Passing was a bit more challenging on Sunday. Think of my analogy above. Have you ever walked that drunk date out of the bar after last call? Yeah, that natural skill of walking seems like an impossible task under the circumstances, doesn’t it? That’s my best shot at providing an analogy for throwing in the weather Sunday. A tall order, for sure. The reality is this, on a day with weather a serious factor, the Browns offense did what was required of it to win… period.

After that victory Sunday, the Browns improved to 6-3 on the season and currently sit with the 8th best record in the AFC, putting them right in the middle of the log jam at the wildcard level of the playoff picture. If you listen to some of the louder voices permeating throughout the Browns fandom you’d think we were 3-6 and not 6-3. This team is finding ways to win. I’m sorry that the wins are not “sexy” enough for you. Wait… No, I’m not sorry. Not even a little. No apologies for winning football.

For years… no, decades… all we wanted was for this organization to win. “Just win, baby” was a motto I always preached about this team. Now they are.

I’ll take them all… any way they want to give them to me.

Thank you sir… May I have another?

Go Browns!
