Making our mark
By Ethan Tabor
How do you start a random ass business talking about news and sports... That’s the google search I typed up just a few weeks ago. I came across Bleacher Report's 100 Best Sports Quotes of All Time. From there, I read a quote by George Best he said, “I spent 90% of my money on women and drink, the rest I wasted on the Knicks".
Take away the Knicks and this is something i can certainly relate too. The money I have spent on women and drinks may be high, but I consider it money well spent. That remaining 10%, on the other hand, has been passed on to the Dolans, Gilberts, and of course, the Haslams in an attempt to experience greatness in Cleveland, Ohio. Dan Gilbert and the Cleveland Cavaliers are the only ones to give me that and ironically, they dive into my women and drinks fund at the Jack casino each week as well. At this point, I’ve paid Lebron’s 2016 salary so I’ve certainly paid my dues for greatness.
Although my google search didn’t help with my business plan, I began searching for local talent. Someone I could partner with. When I say local, I mean that I grew up in Garrettsville, Ohio. A little town with one stoplight and a McDonald’s. Coincidentally, every person you hear from with Mark One Sports today somehow ties to the whopping 2,300 people in Garrettsville. I can tell you that Mark One is a lively, passionate, real group of people that loves Cleveland sports. This team just has it, and even in the early stages you can tell this is something special. Though the goal is to branch out from our little town, I'm excited to begin this journey together.
Soon you will begin to see podcasts, blogs, and social media content with the Mark One logo everywhere. We are here to provide the best entertainment on all things Cleveland sports.
So please, give us a listen, watch, and read. Feel free to give us your feedback on every bit of it. We want to create content that our people want to see. Follow along as Mark One makes its mark.
