Who Replaces Josh Naylor?

By: Jamie Renner

Welp, we hate to see something like this… Injury bugs have plagued the Indians all season long,

from our pitching rotation and now our outfielders, things are not looking good. I showed

my dad the video and he knows from experience (having his ankle replaced completely after a

few breaks), this injury is something like a 2 month to a whole years worth of recovery if

worse comes to worse. We are either looking at a bad sprain or a completely broken ankle. Not

something you want to see out of a 24 year old who, in my eyes, is on the verge of stardom.

The kid has all the tools in the world, he just needs to continue to build on them. All we

can do now is pray for his speedy recovery and look to other options.... But what are those other options?

Well, the team can go one of a few routes. They could finally call up Daniel Johnson who has

pretty much done everything imaginable in triple A. Giving him this spot would solidify himself as

an everyday starter, which hopefully in turn would give him the confidence to play well. They

could also consider giving Nolan Jones that opportunity. We still don’t know much of anything about him as a player and

giving him this spot would finally give us a clear indication on what kind of Major Leaguer we should expect out of a

number 1 farm system piece. We could maybe give Oscar Mercado a try... again.. Or not.

I don't know what the next move is for this team. Personally, I say give Daniel Johnson a try and

let him finally stay up with the club long enough to prove himself. Seriously, if we can give

Jake Bauers 100 at bats, what do we have to lose giving a guy like Daniel Johnson 100 at bats?

Nothing... Nolan Jones can stay at third and continue to develop, Oscar Mercado can still just

figure out whatever in the world is going on with him, and we finally get to see what another

piece of the farm looks like up here in the bigs.

I have also heard that the Indians could move Amed Rosario to the outfield and recall Andres

Gimenez who has been red hot lately in Triple A Columbus. I think with what Amed is doing for

himself now, he has rightfully played himself into staying where he is at. Don't try to fix

something that is not broken, Tito knows what's best.

Thoughts and Prayers up for Josh Naylor.
