The 49ers Suck
The Cleveland Browns pulled off an unexpected victory against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The final score was 19-17, with the Browns winning by a slim margin. The 49ers' regular-season winning streak of 15 games came to an end, and Brock Purdy suffered his first loss as a starter. All this without our best offensive lineman, Joel Bitonio, and our starting QB, Deshaun Watson. It was a glorious day in Cleveland, Ohio!
The Browns' defense was top-notch once again and held the 49ers to just 17 points. Dustin Hopkins kicked four field goals for the Browns, and Kareem Hunt scored our lone touchdown. P.J. Walker, who came off Cleveland's practice squad, outplayed Purdy, who threw his first interception this season and finished with just 125 yards. Martin Emerson Jr. made his first career interception on the play and the Browns kept Purdy off balance all day long.
The game was intense, with both teams putting up a good fight. However, the Browns were able to capitalize on their opportunities and secure the win. The 49ers had their chances but failed to convert them into points. Rookie kicker Jake Moody missed a 41-yard field goal with six seconds remaining, his second miss of the day, helping give the Browns the unexpected win.
This defense is fricken FOR REAL though. They have allowed just 52 first downs all year, the next best team is the Buccaneers who have allowed 94! Teams have a 3rd down conversion rate of just 23.1% against the Browns, next best in the league is 31.3%, and they have only surrendered 1,002 total yards! Jim Schwartz has answered the call and finally we are seeing the talent of this group shine on Sundays.
Brock Purdy threw for just 125 yards and had one touchdown pass. He also rushed for seven yards. Christian McCaffrey was held to just 43 yards on his 11 carries before leaving the game injured in the 3rd quarter. On the other hand, P.J. Walker threw for 192 yards and rushed for one yard. Kareem Hunt and Amari Cooper were the standout players for the Browns, with Hunt having a total of 71 yards (47 rushing and 24 receiving) with one touchdown, and Cooper with 4 huge catches for 108 yards.
Overall, it was an exciting game that saw the underdogs come out on top. The Browns are 3-2 and heading into the favorable part of their schedule, our next 3 games are against the Colts, Seahawks, and Cardinals. A game like this, against an undefeated team that many see as the clear Super Bowl favorites, is huge for team morale and I expect the Browns to stay on a roll!
