Can the Experiment End?
By: Jamie Renner
It's one thing to be lucky, it's another to be the Cleveland Indians and get absolutely embarrassed by an opposing pitcher. Carlos Rodon, for those of you who don't know, was 2 outs away from giving us something we have not seen since King Felix did it in 2012, a perfect game.
A feat that has only been accomplished 23 other times. It is the single most dominating performance a pitcher could be known for. Carlos was 2 outs away from being in the history books with the likeness of Randy Johnson, Felix Hernandez, Dallas Braden, Roy Halloday, Matt Cain, and very few more. You simply do not wake up and think to yourself “Hey I might mess around and put myself in the record books.”
But the takeaway I want to know is, at what point is the experiment of Jake Bauers and Ben Gamel going to finally be done? I mean, what a joke this is. The last time a no hitter was put onto the Indians like this was Ervin Santana when he was with the LA Angels. I was at that game and sat 5 rows from home plate. Let me tell you, it was not one of the more memorable moments in my lifetime at Jacobs field. Granted yes I saw a no hitter in person, but I was 12 and addicted to Call of Duty, Legos, transformers and I don’t know, typical 12 year old boy stuff.
My point being, the experiment this front office has us going through right now is a train wreck. Its a dumpster fire, in a train wreck, right before a tsunami hits it. It is horrible.
I do have a feeling after this Cincinnati series, that some things will change and Bobby Bradley/ Daniel Johnson will be called up. How much longer are you going to let 4 guys on our team continue to struggle at the plate? Seriously Chris and Terry, these guys aren’t even hitting their weight for average. It is horrible and quite honestly embarrassing to watch.
I will continue to say this, as an indians fan. Patience is a virtue, and the Tribe have some EXTREMELY talented guys in the farm system that will be making an impact in the coming years. It may not be tomorrow, next week, or hell even this season, but all the tools are in place for the world series talks to come back sooner than later.
We just gotta F’ing continue to watch this struggle. For now.
